The kids are off from school... what should I do with them?
Well it's great to have time with the kids without trying to get them to school, pick them up, or do homework with them, or if your homeschooling, to not have to teach. Although you may find everyone has too much time on their hands. Here are some suggestions I have for you, on what to do with all this time.
Free Ideas:
Picnic, first have the kids come up with what the menu and venue should be (even if you just give them a list to choose from). Let the kids help with making the sandwiches and packing the cooler. If the weather is no good, you can always make a back up plan of having it on your covered porch or your living room floor.
Play ground, children never get tired of the playground, invite some or one of there friends to tag along that way you can sit back and relax with a book or some music while they run around.
Ball Park, if they are into sports, grab some of the equipment and enough people for a practice or a game, and lets play ball.
Bike Riding, I always enjoyed this from the time I was little till now. So whether you just ride around the neighborhood, or take the bikes to the park.
Spring Cleaning, it may not be fun but it has to be done. Why not do it when you have everyone there to help. Maybe treat everyone to ice cream after.
The Library, if the weather is not to good, the library is always an option. They have computers for the kids to play on, a toy area, and sometimes special events happening.
Not Free Ideas:
Day Trip, vacations can be too expensive, but make a day trip. Go somewhere locally so you don't have to pay for hotels, and visit a famous landmark, a museum, or explore a river or cave.
Lazer tag is always a good time. It can be a little pricey, but I got a Groupon so we spent $8.00 on the two games.
Bounce Houses, they have all different bounce houses, trampolines, and ball pits some even have an area for babies. It's a good way for the kids to get some exercise even on a rainy April day. I also have seen Groupons for that.
Chuck e Cheese, let the kids run around play games, win prizes and eat pizza for an afternoon of fun.
Dave and Busters, if your child has outgrown Chuck e Cheese, Dave and Busters is a great choice. It has stuff for you and the kids.
Bowling is fun, especially with the whole family. You can find really affordable deals for this as well.
Mini Golf, is nice. Some places have indoor, but we prefer the outdoor ones.. Get some fresh air and try not to get frustrated with the windmill. I suggest playing with a little bit older children, unless you have a lot of patience while your little one takes 12 turns to get the ball in.
Museum, some are free and some aren't, but keep the learning continuing even while on spring break but in a fun way. I know Dash really enjoys the science museums and of course the children's museum. Some are a little distance but we make a day trip of it.
Recreational Centers, these are great and offer different options. The one by us has indoor basketball courts, indoor ice skating rink, indoor swimming pools.
Indoor Swimming Pool, if you don't have a center by you see if you have a community indoor swimming pool somewhere around. Most kids really enjoy a day of swimming.
Go to the movies, day time movies are usually cheaper. And it will get everyone out of the house for a few hours.
